OVERVIEW
Esther M. Choi is an associate at Crisham & Kubes, Ltd. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Choi served as a law clerk to the Honorable William D. Maddux, Presiding Judge of the Law Division, Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois. As a law clerk for Judge Maddux, Ms. Choi performed legal research and analysis on various civil matters. Ms. Choi drafted memoranda and opinions on motions for summary judgment, motions to dismiss, and motions to compel discovery, among others. Ms. Choi assisted other Law Division judges in trial matters such as jury voir dire, motions in limine, jury instructions and post trial motions. Ms. Choi also reviewed settlement orders from minors' and disabled persons' personal injury and wrongful death cases. Ms. Choi assisted Judge Maddux with the entire asbestos docket in Cook County and also coordinated the Law Division Extern Program.
At Crisham & Kubes, Ms. Choi concentrates in commercial and civil litigation, including professional liability (architects, engineers, attorneys and insurance producers), personal injury defense and construction law.
EDUCATION
Ms. Choi graduated from Loyola University Chicago School of Law in 2003. Ms. Choi received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology Pre-Law, with a minor in Philosophy, from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, in 2000.
COURT ADMISSIONS
Ms. Choi is admitted to practice in Illinois and before the Illinois Supreme Court and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
PROFESSIONAL, BUSINESS AND CIVIC AFFILIATIONS
Ms. Choi is a member of the Chicago Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association, Korean American Bar Association, and Women's Bar Association of Illinois, and is currently the Secretary for the Korean American Bar Association. In addition, Ms. Choi assists the Thomas Tang Moot Court Team at Loyola University Chicago School of Law.
