Jeffrey T. Kubes

overview

Jeffrey T. Kubes, along with Thomas M. Crisham, formed the highly experienced litigation firm of Crisham & Kubes, Ltd. Mr. Kubes practices law in the areas of civil litigation, with a focus on construction law, professional liability (architects engineers, surveyors, agents, brokers), product liability and complex matters in a wide variety of disputes and claims in alternative dispute and litigation. He has substantial involvement in the representation of design professionals, contractors, and owners on claims involving allegations of design and construction defects.

His trial experience includes several jury verdicts in Cook County and four collar counties. Mr. Kubes' expertise includes representation on property damage claims, commercial/ contract disputes, and bodily injury claims consisting of catastrophic injuries such as complete and incomplete quadriplegia, closed head injuries, traumatic amputations, and wrongful death claims.

Since 1990, Mr. Kubes has taught trial advocacy and related skills to law students and practicing attorneys at seminars sponsored by various organizations. In addition, he frequently writes articles and presents seminars on topics related to professional liability, construction law and litigation. His work has been published in a distinguished array of legal and industry specific journals.

Mr. Kubes graduated with Honors from Northern Illinois University School of Law and received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Eastern Illinois University.

Mr. Kubes has been admitted to practice in the state of Illinois and in the following courts: United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, United States District Court for the Central District of Illinois, Trial Bar of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, United States Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit, United States Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit, the United States Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.

Mr. Kubes participates in various committees of the American Bar Association, Chicago Bar Association, DuPage County Bar Association, Defense Research and Trial Lawyers Institute, and the Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel. He is also a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, International Association of Defense Counsel, Professional Liability Underwriting Society, and the Society of Trial Lawyers.

He also actively participates in many organizations dealing with the construction industry including the American Institute of Architects-Chicago, the American Institute of Architects-Illinois, the American Society of Civil Engineers, the Association of Liscensed Arichitects, the Society of Illinois Construction Attorneys, and the Structural Engineers Association of Illinois. This involvement includes conducting several seminars and authoring articles for periodicals on various topics of risk management primarily for the benefit of design professionals, contractors, owners, and other attorneys.

In addition to professional and business affiliations, Mr. Kubes has participated in a variety of community outreach programs, including the City of Hope where he was involved in the Reach Committee from 1997-1999.
